Why did you choose Oregon Tech?
I had a brother that graduated here with a mechanical engineering degree and two sisters who graduated from Oregon Tech as well, both with vascular imaging degrees. I saw what kind of careers Oregon Tech has given my siblings so that’s why I chose a similar path. I researched and saw that Oregon Tech has one of the best medical imaging programs in the nation, so I was sold.
What do you like best about your major?
What I like best about my major is that it is relatively new to me and everything I’m learning in lecture, I get to do in lab. We also do rotations at Sky Lakes hospital next to the campus and get to see what’s in store for us when we go on extern. The very best thing about my major is my class and professors. We started with 16 individuals who never met and before we knew it, we were one big family.
What clubs or activities are you involved with?
I’m currently in the Nuclear Medicine Club. I break dance in my spare time with a friend in manufacturing and we’d like to start a club but need more participants.
What career do you hope to have after you graduate from Oregon Tech?
I hope to find a secure job as a nuclear medicine tech at a hospital or a clinic in Portland, but I’m willing to go anywhere it takes me. I’m excited to be able to work with patients on my own and make a career out of helping people get healthy.
Do you have any advice for incoming students?
Make sure you have studs or carry chains and bring an ice-scraper because you will need it. “Blondies” have the best burgers; “Los Morenos” has the best burritos and for breakfast, “Starvin’ Marvin!” Meet new people and have fun, because it goes by fast.
