Rhonda Costin

Student, Class of 2016
Major(s): Geomatics
Hometown: Springfield, Oregon

Why did you choose Oregon Tech?

I chose Oregon Tech because it has a strong Geomatics department and supports participation in the MECOP/CECOP internship program. Also, the small class sizes make classes a lot more enjoyable.

What do you like best about your major?

I love the combination of outdoor fieldwork and computer mapping. Being outside along with performing calculations is the perfect balance.

What clubs or activities are you involved with?

I am the Secretary of the Geomatics Club and I participate in skiing and hiking trips with the Outdoor Club.

What career do you hope to have after you graduate from Oregon Tech?

I hope to get into hydrographic surveying after graduation because I love being on and around bodies of water.

Do you have any advice for incoming students?

Definitely get involved in the Geomatics Club. It is a great way to meet other students in the major and participate in useful activities. Also, attend the local PLSO chapter meetings because that allows you to meet professionals in the area and make connections.
