A Little Bit About Me
I’m very dedicated my work and studies and find myself spending most of my time doing that. When I’m not working or in class, I like to spend my time with my dog, Scooby. He suffers from a lot of anxiety from his previous owners before I rescued him, so he loves to hangout in calm environments. Lately I have been exposing him to more people and different environments to get him comfortable in different situations and he’s responding much better than he used to. I have always worked and kept myself busy studying, so I have been trying to find a good work-life balance which I practiced this summer by spending lots of time in the sun!
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose Oregon Tech because of its exceptional graduation rate as well as the income that students make right out of graduation. I have always had an interest in the dental field and found dental hygiene to be my biggest interest. I chose Oregon Tech for this reason as well because they have the top hygiene program in Oregon. I have heard so many people say that they seek out Oregon Tech graduates which stood out to me as well.
My Influential Professors
Going into my fourth year at Oregon Tech, I can say that Darleen Swigart has been my most influential professor. She always presents herself in a positive manner and encourages her students with her excitement about her profession. She created a very warm and welcoming experience for my first year in the dental hygiene program, made me push through all the hard work, and was always there to listen if I needed someone.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
My greatest learning experience at Oregon Tech so far was during my first year of the dental hygiene program. During this year, I was pushed harder than I ever had been before with multiple large tests and quizzes a week which taught me how to manage my time better and study ahead of time in order to succeed.
My Plans After Graduation
After graduation I plan to use my degree to get a job in a dental office and practice dental hygiene. I also would love to participate and help out with community health opportunities which provide dental care to those who don’t have usual access to it. I have found an interest in sales so I would also enjoy getting involved in sales and being able to travel and represent a dental company.
